Powerboat racing has been a part of Roddy Foreman’s life since the age of 5 when his father raced and set speed records with a tunnel boat built by Molinari and powered by a Johnson Stinger GP. Roddy raced his first boat at the age of 12 and won his first tunnel boat race at the age of 16 in the Sport E class. He has raced in the Sport E, SST 45, SST 60, SST 70, Formula 50, SST 100, Formula 100, Mod 110, SST 120, and Mod VP classes.
In 1998, Roddy was inducted into the APBA Hall of Champions after setting a speed record, winning the World and National championships and the APR racing points series in the SST 60 class. The APBA Hall of Champions was a life long goal that became a reality with the help of John Calley, Darrel and Kevin Beaulier and many other friends and supporters.
Roddy has been looking forward to his return to boat racing for the past 5 years. During a battle with Cancer in 2006, Roddy dreamed of boat racing again to get through the surgery and treatments. Returning to racing motivated him to beat Cancer and to get into the best physical and mental shape of his life. Now the dream is a reality as he returns to racing with a SST-60 boat built by long time competitor and friend Gary Pugh. He is teaming up again with long time friend and crew chief John Calley who is a former boat racer and champion. His strongest supporter is his wife Brooke who is an Acupuncturist, personal trainer and competitor in triathalons.
Roddy will race on the American Powerboat Superleague series in 2011 in the Formula 3 / SST 60 class. His first race will be at the Orange Cup in Lakeland, Florida in March to prepare for the American Powerboat Superleague series races. See his Racer profile
